Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism

Advising

The curriculum in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism prepares students to design, implement and manage leisure services in a variety of public, private and non-profit settings.  Required courses include Administration of Leisure Services, Leisure and Consumer Culture and Human Resource Management in Leisure Organizations.  All students also complete a full-time internship experience, which provides an opportunity to apply classroom concepts to “real world” settings.  Career options include Campus Recreation Director, Park District Manager and Corporate Event Planner.  Students can complete a concentration in Community Recreation Management, Sports Management or Tourism Management.
