Q&A

  • Q. Where are you employed? What is your Title?
  • Charlotte Bobcats Sports & Entertainment, Senior Manager, Season Ticket Sales
  • Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
  • Creating and executing strategic revenue generating campaigns.
  • Q. What do you consider to be your most valuable contribution to your organization for which you work?
  • Developing talented sales professionals.
  • Q. Given your career path, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
  • Our industry is very dynamic so there is no telling what it will look like 10 years from now. I'd like to remain with a franchise on the sales side of things. In 10 years I'd like to be at the Executive Vice President level working towards becoming a team President.
  • Q. Do you have any words of advice/recommendations? a. for undergrads still searching for a major-would you recommend RST and why?, b. for the undergrads currently in the program c. for the senior currently looking for his/her first position.
  • The best advice I can provide for non-senior undergrads is to obtain as much experience as possible in the field you are interested in. Take advantage of internships in multiple departments (i.e. sales, service, marketing, sponsorships, operations, etc.) so you know whether you enjoy that type of work environment.

For seniors, identify your passion then put all your efforts into obtaining an entry level position specific to that disciple. While doing so, don't restrict yourself. Seek out all opportunities everywhere in that specific discipline.

  • Q. Please add anything else that might be helpful.
  • Sales shouldn't be the starting point for your career if that's not where your heart is at. If your passion is marketing, operations, facility management, etc. then your career should begin there. If sales is where you feel you're best suited seek out opportunities like the Sport Sales Combine (www.sportsalescombine.com) and do whatever it takes to be successful.
